MEET OUR INSTRUCTORS 

 

KWAN JANG NIM DENEEN RAYSOR

Master Instructor & Co-Founder  UBC Strike Force Martial Arts Academy & CrossFit NE Philly

Deneen is the 2012 Southern Shoalin Mixed Martial Arts Tournament Women's Grand Champion. In 2010, she won a Gold medal in both the 2010 Naga Jiu-jitsu tournament and Hassetts in-house tournament.

Deneen has over twenty years in mixed martial arts and is a 4th Dan Black in Tae Kwon Do and a blue belt in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu.  Deneen has competed in many open style martial arts tournaments since she was a green belt and Jiu-Jitsu tournaments as a white belt. She is also experienced in boxing, kickboxing, and self-defense.

Deneen served as a Sargeant in the United States Army.  She holds a degree in Master of Science in Kinesiology/Exercise Physiology  with a concentration in Sports Performance Enhancement & Injury Prevention. Deneen is certified as a:

  • Performance Enhancement Specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM)
  • Speed and Explosion Specialist for Sports Competition through the National Association of Speed and Explosion (NASE)
  • CrossFit Level 1 Coach
  • TRX Suspension Training Coach 
  • Mixed Martial Arts Conditioning Coach

 

SAE BUK NIM JO ANN RUNEWICZ

     Jo Ann has a 1st Dan Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do and a blue belt in Gracie Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.  In 2010, she won a Bronze medal in  Hassetts in-house tournament.  She also studies and instructs Tae Kwon Do and Boxing under her mentor, Deneen Raysor, Head Instructor- UBC Strikeforce.  Jo Ann is experienced in boxing, kickboxing, and self-defense.

Jo Ann is a Certified Personal Trainer, Core Strength Specialist, and a Registered Nurse. She holds a Master of Science in Nursing and a Doctorate in Education.

Ryan has a 1st Dan Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. He studies and instructs Tae Kwon Do under his mentor, Deneen Raysor, Head Instructor- UBC Strikeforce.

 

MIXED MARTIAL ARTS

Our mixed martial arts academy host a variety of martial arts styles including Tae Kwon Do, Boxing and Ground Fighting (Basic Grappling Skills).

  • Tae Kwon Do is the way of kicking and punching. Our curriculum consists of a mixture of some traditional Tae Kwon Do and modern Urban Combat Skills (USC). Urban Combat Skills include elbow strikes, knee strikes , knife fighting, and other combat survival skills for self protection.
  • Boxing. In this class the students will learn the boxing basics, foot work and body movement; punching combinations; and boxing conditioning. The class ends with  light to moderate sparring.
  • Grappling (Ground Fighting) Worst the place that you want to be is on the ground especially when you don't know what to do and your life is hanging by a thread. In this worst case scenario, we teach basic life saving techniques that will imoblize your attacker and get you home safelyBasic techiques include takedowns, pressure points, joint locks and submissions.
