The coaches of UBC have identified an alarming incidence of childhood obesity and its impact on health and well-being. The sedentary lifestyle of the average youth places them at risk for becoming over weight.

Healthy lifestyle habits, including healthy eating and physical activity, can lower the risk of becoming obese and developing related diseases such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, stroke, several types of cancer, osteoarthritis, and high cholesterol or high blood pressure. Social and psychological problems such as stigmatization and poor self-esteem have been associated with childhood obesity.

We would like to extend an invitation to the families in the local area to help combat this epidemic. Currently UBC is offering individualized personal training and group training for youths and adolescents who are overweight or who wish to improve their athletic performance. Exercise at an early age can instill lifelong healthy habits.

Urban Boot Camp activities are grounded in teaching youth the fundamentals of fitness while emphasizing healthy competition.  Skill-building is guided by the principals of teamwork, leadership, and commitment, without an obsessive focus on winning.  Through physical activity and safety-focused games, our coaches and youth work together to develop a lasting commitment to healthy living.  These activities, incorporated into weekly fitness programs, ensure that Urban Boot Camp youth have the ability and comfort to make informed decisions about their health.

Of course, the environment is safe, supportive, and FUN !!!
